Australian leaders shocked at Orlando killings

Australia’s political leaders have expressed their horror at the shootings in Orlando.

The Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, said he had telephoned the US president,  Barack Obama to offer  him Australia’s condolences.

He said the gunman who killed 50 people there had committed “an assault on freedom.”

The Labor leader, Bill Shorten, also said Australians had been shocked at what had happened.
